THE BIBLE – God's Words for us
Beliefs
Why We Trust the Bible at Dreamer’s Church
If you’ve ever wondered whether the Bible is actually trustworthy, you’re not alone.
Is the Bible just ancient human opinion?
Is it still relevant in everyday life?
What do you do when culture says one thing and Scripture says another?
And how do you know you’re not just picking verses to support what you already want?
At Dreamer’s Church in Austin, we want clarity, not religious fog.
Big idea: The Bible is God-breathed, completely trustworthy, and the final guide for our faith and everyday life.
What we mean when we say “The Bible is God’s Book”
On our beliefs page, we say the Scriptures were written by men under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit, and that because the Bible is inspired by God, it is without error and pertinent to everyday life for believers.
That’s not a slogan for us. It’s a foundation.
The Bible is not humans guessing their way to God. It is God choosing to speak, and choosing to be known.
That’s why our statement points to 1 Corinthians 2:13 and 2 Timothy 3:16, which emphasize Spirit-guided words and God-breathed Scripture.
We explain this as God being the source, people being the writers, and the Holy Spirit guiding the process.
What about people who misuse it?
If you’ve seen the Bible misused, we're sorry. Misuse is real. But misuse does not cancel truth.
When we say the Bible is infallible and without error, we’re saying this: God is not trying to mislead you. Scripture is fully dependable.
Jesus treated Scripture as unbreakable and authoritative (John 10:35).
And Scripture warns us not to treat God’s Word with contempt.
Deuteronomy 4:2 warns against adding to what God has said, and Revelation 22:18-19 warns against subtracting from it.
The Bible is our authority, not our accessory
If the Bible is truly God’s Word, it can’t just be a quote we pull out when we need comfort. It becomes the measuring line for what we believe and how we live.
The Bible does not just inform us, it forms us!
That’s why we don’t build doctrine on:
Tradition when it overrides God’s Word (Mark 7:1-13),
Experiences alone (2 Peter 1:19-21),
New “revelations” that contradict Scripture (Isaiah 8:19-20).
Paul warns the church not to drift into “a different gospel" (Galatians 1:6-9).
"I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse! Galatians 1:6-9
The Bible is a guiding light for Monday, not just Sunday
Psalm 119:105 calls God’s Word a lamp and a light.
Hebrews 4:12 says the Word of God is living and active, cutting through the noise and showing us what’s really going on inside.
Scripture is not meant to lead us away from Jesus, its meant to lead us to Him.
Jesus said the scriptures point to Him (John 5:39), and He showed how the whole story leads to Him (Luke 24:27).
We don’t worship the pages. We worship the God who speaks to us through them.
What you can expect from our teaching at Dreamer’s Church
Because we trust the Bible, we try to handle it with care.
That means we don’t use Scripture as a hammer to win arguments. We use Scripture as a light to lead people to Jesus.
It also means our preaching is rooted in the text. We want you to see where it’s coming from, not just take a pastor’s word for it.
Truth is not a threat when God is your Father.
When you come to Dreamer’s Church, you can expect:
Jesus at the center. The Bible’s story leads to Him.
Truth with compassion. We won’t water it down, and we won’t weaponize it.
Application for real life. Scripture is “useful” for shaping how we think, live, and love (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
Room for questions. We believe faith grows in the open light, not in secret.
Revelation, inspiration, illumination
God is not hiding from you. He’s guiding you.
Revelation is God making Himself known.
Inspiration is how God ensured His message was recorded accurately.
Illumination is the Holy Spirit helping us understand and apply what we read.
That last one matters if you’re new. You can read the Bible like a textbook and miss the point. Or you can read it with a humble heart and say, “God, show me Jesus. Help me live this.”
How to start reading the Bible without getting overwhelmed
Keep it simple and consistent. You don’t have to “catch up.” You just have to start.
Read daily, small and steady, not to finish fast, but to meet with God.
Study with context, good tools and with other people (2 Timothy 2:15).
Meditate by turning a verse into prayer and letting it shape your thinking (Joshua 1:8)
Obey what you already understand, because truth is meant to be lived (John 8:31-32)
When you feel dry, remember Isaiah 55:10-11. God promises His Word will accomplish what He intends, like rain that waters the earth.
If you’re searching for a home, “churches near me”
If you are looking for a home church, maybe you type in “churches near me,” our guess is you’re probably looking for something healthy.
Here’s what you can expect at Dreamer’s Church: we teach Scripture as God’s infallible Word, absolute truth, and a guiding light for everyday life.
If you’re wondering, “Do they really trust the Bible?” our answer is yes, with conviction and with compassion.
Come visit and bring your questions
You don’t have to pretend you have it all figured out. Bring your questions. Bring your story. Bring your honest “I don’t know yet.”
We’ll keep pointing you to Jesus, and we’ll keep building on God’s Word together.
